Thanks again.
I'll try it when I return in a couple weeks and post results so hopefully everyone will find the answers.

Ummm, essmess, that is the factory actuator dimensions I gave.
Factory ones on ezgo are around 14" closed 20" open, most 6" stroke actuators are the same size. I bought new 1000lbs ones off ebay for $125, ezgo wants $300+++ for one. The 1000lb ones are identical to the 1500lb ones, they just travel faster. You also need a 25-30amp reversing momentary switch and a 25-30amp self reseting dc breaker. I've used them without the breaker with no problems but it might be a good idea to add a 30amp fuse in-line if you do that.
The 7"+ stroke one from northern looks like a good deal, not sure it would fit in the mounting holes right on the ezgos and not sure what you'd need to control it. Those things are just small problems that you could overcome.

Ok, I went to Northern and was able to see one of the actuators. It did not impress me. Appeared to be alot of plastic. So I found a 2200 lb actuator for 85.00. I picked up the switch at Napa for 15.00 and the breaker for 7.00.
Very easy project since Ez-Go puts all the mounting points in the cart already.
Works great!

It's a Warner Electric actuator. I'm pretty sure that is who Ez-go uses. Best price I got from Ez-go was 570.00 for the kit which includes the switch, breaker, actuator, (with clevis pins) caution sticker, switch guard, and the mounting plate for the switch and breaker. As shown in the P/L.

So I'm left to assume the caution sticker and switch guard are really, really expensive to make
