Default how did this happen? battery post melted

Thanks to all of you who responded previously to my posting. I've found my problem and it was really obvious when I began looking at the batteries in the daylight. The driver's side rear battery's postive post severed and was practically dangling, still tightly attached to the cable; a four inch section of the cable's insulation was also melted. This is a two week old Energizer and everything seemed to be connected tightly and properly. The cart ran great for those two weeks.
Any explanations? Thanks, Jodi

Can you post pictures of your batteries, and do you have the batteries secured down in the battery tray I have had a post melt down before, and I had my batteries secured but my cable was loose but it wasn't noticable just by looking it was barely able to be moved, did the post break off where it goes down into the battery ?

The battery connections need to be checked frequently because the WILL become loose.

Paige-batteries are not clamped down and the post just melted off above the battery enclosure-I'm hoping the battery can be used still since it's only 2 weeks old.

When I melted my post down I drilled and tapped into the lead area that goes down into battery and used a stainless steal all thread stud, but you can .only drill down about 3/4 of an inch into it or your bit will go down into the battery chamber where the water is in your battery hope this helps so you may get a little more time out of your battery. And I would recommend securing your batteries there is alot of guys on sight sponsors that you could get the part from.
