Post Ezgo

The other day I was climbing a steep hill so the golf cart was going snail speed. When I drove my cart back to base it had a loose fried battery cable. The battery terminal was burned and turned white. Do you think the battery is still good when it is burned white and really hot? For now on until I get my new set of 6 6volt batterys I am going to stay on minor hills with my 4 8volts. I am going to use my current setup of 4 8volts until summer, then when summer is here I will get new 6 volts. But for now I will try to use the burnt battery? Is that safe? Will that damage anything?

Here's my previous thread:http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...hts-green.html

You have a lot of issues going on ATM. 32v in a 36v cart, suspected battery cables now. I know you just put new ones in but heat is a symptom of high resistance which is symptomatic of loose/bad joint or connection. Climbing steep hills should definitively be off your map for the future. A load test and individual battery cell test will tell you if their is need for other maintenance. If your going to be replacing all batteries this summer and I were you.... I'd toss in another 6v or 12v car battery to up the volts till then. But that is just me and I can take the hit others may say about it. Just keep your eyes on the batteries and no more big hills.

Have to agree with Gonkulor: If you fried a cable/battery connection you should consider that a warning of things yet to come. Most especially if you continue to use the cart in that manner. Once you have tested the batteries and enured everything is ok, why not invest in at least one more 8 volt battery? It least with more power than required, you are less likely to burn anything else up. Running less power is just asking for problems. If you're familiar with gasoline engines, relate your current condition to running your carb/injectors in a very lean condition. Eventually, you will be replacing the valves and everything they take with them.

Rib: Your point is taken. I have no idea how he's charging the 8 volt batteries he now has. One more would make it 40 volts. The motor can handle that voltage and amperage, for that matter. Frankly, other than tell him, if he insists, this may be a better way, I don't see where either of us told him anything wrong. Maybe you'd like to enlighten me. I'm always open to new, (to me), information. But, if all you have to offer is drive by's leave me out of it. Post your own advice and move on. Just for your education, continuing to run that cart on 32 volts, which he has obviously decided to do, is guarenteed to create problems. Problems more likely to cause injuries than a few, (4), extra volts are going to do. BTW, it's TRIED, not tryed. Now run along, report me to the mods and maybe we'll meet again on another forum.

Report him to the mods? Hell, he is a mod. With the ability to ban you permanently no questions asked. Before you go off telling someone to run along you might want to know who THEY are first.

I thought this cart was "bulletproof".

36v carts need 36v battery packs, solenoids, and chargers.
48v carts need 48v battery packs, solenoids, and chargers.

Any deviations from these SAFE standards, you better know EXACTLY WTH you are doing. Period.

pjmia96, do it right, do it safely, or don't do it. That's the best advice ANYONE can give you right now. Learn to walk before you learn to run.

Oops Chole, that's funny... now all you moderators run along. Shu shooo

As for the cart in question, The kid should pack marshmallows in it cuz they are gonna be done sooner or later

I have 10-15 PMs asking me how to make it work on 32v, and just as many responses explaining that is can't be done. So if he insists upon running the cart under voltage against our advice that's his business. What we don't want here is other readers mistakenly thinking this is okay to do.
That is why we can't support any variation of this experiment.
I hope this helps.
