ezgo stopped running
Hey guys I am working on a ezgo 36 v cart not sure the year. But it was running fine for a while then after you were on it for 5 mins it would get real slow. Took some measurements and it was only getting 5 v to motor Any way I thought it was the controller changed it out still the same thing so i changed out the solenoid and now I am not getting any voltage to the motor at all What could be the problem thanks in advance

Re: ezgo stopped running
Start at the batteries by tracking where you are losing the voltage at.......then look at the condition of that item and go from there. Check all your connections.

Each system has a different throttle input. So let's start there. |

Re: ezgo stopped running
sorry guys forgot to mention it was a esc. Also the jumper that crosses the solenoid on the small post is it suppose to ohm out?

Re: ezgo stopped running
Do you think it could be the f-n-r switch

Re: ezgo stopped running
It could be a long list of things
Is the solenoid clicking when you try to go? If not the problem could be in the activation circuit. A quick overview of the solenoid is : The solenoid is a HD on/off switch or Contactor the connection is made /broken between the 2 large terminals. The 2 small terminals are the activation circuit. typically one terminal will have a constant negative connection to the pack. When Positive power is applied to the second small terminal the contact is drawn up against the spring to make contact. When power from either side of the activation circuit is removed then contact is released and the spring pushes it away interrupting the circuit ...It doesn't matter which small terminal is neg or pos on the activation circuit so long as you have one of each.... |

The banded end of the diode should be connected to the small post with the Positive wire(s) connected. If the diode is shorted (conducts in both directions), or installed backwards, the solenoid will not activate. For troubleshooting, the diode can be removed since it is not needed to activate the solenoid, but should be installed during operation to protect the switch contacts in the activation circuit from the electrical spike generated with the solenoid coil de-energizes. Also, there may be a 250 Ohm resistor connected between the solenoid's main terminals. Again, it is a protection device that is not needed for troubleshooting, but should be installed for operation. It protects the solenoid contacts from arcing (as much) when opening and closing. Without it, the inrush of current charging the filter capacitors in the controller would arc the contacts more and the solenoid would fail sooner. |

Re: ezgo stopped running
thanks for the replys. The solenoid is clicking when you try to go.how do i go about checking the activation circuit. Also i checked the resistor and it was good not sure about the diode but i will check to see if that is the problem. Also don't know if this helps or not but i also checked across the controller (m- and b+) and i got 0 voltage and when you hit the gas it stays the same at 0
