1996 EZGO TXT Electric Rear End Noise
Whenever I start off (stomp on accelerator) I hear a noise that sound like something is loose in the rear end. I have replaced the ubolts and wheel hubs. If i start off slow it does not do it, when cruiseing it does not do it. I have jack up the rear end, ran it, no noise. Anybody have suggestions.
Bottom line something sound loose. |

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Electric Rear End Noise
Might just be normal gear lash?
Electric motors produce 100% of their power at 0 rpms. When you stomp on the gas you are delivering as much torque as possible to the differential just hard & fast as you can. It is not uncommon for these differentials to have a little clunking noise when starting or changing direction. I hope this helps. |

A clunk into gear is okay but excessive growling could mean a worn input shaft.

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Electric Rear End Noise
Thanks Scotty,
I think I may a problem with the input shaft. If I remove the rear end, what do I need to look for. |

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Electric Rear End Noise
You can remove the motor and the input shaft without removing the rear end from the cart.
Inspect the shaft for wear. Basically any wear groove you can see is too much. |

Not in internet form. The Dana axle manual is available from shopezgo.com.

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Electric Rear End Noise
Is the "INPUT SHAFT" the Gear Input or the Axle (Drivers Shft) or something else.

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Electric Rear End Noise
I have the same issue that sounds like a "crunching" type sound. Although when I took off the hub the noise went away. I can only assume is has to be something with the drum brakes? Anyone have suggestions where to look? Grease points? The pads are not worn much at all either and did not see any noticeable marks. I'm about to remove the pads and inspect behind
