After seeing some of the posts about converters and the fourth battery being discharged enough to create an imbalance, it occurred to me that the Club Car headlights are halogen. Looking around, I've seen some off road lights that are LED. This seems like a great solution. I have an LED flashlight that gets 240 lumens out of 3 AAA batteries. Just curious if anyone has looked into this already.

I used a LED flashlight from Harbor Freight. I used 2 of them. Took the batteries out and hooked them up to one 6 volt in the battery pack. The lights would not pass for a street vehicle but they were only 3 or 4 dollars apiece and I am surprised at the light they put out. They are flat flashlights so they mount easily and they have app. 26 LEDs apiece.

I'm looking into getting LED's for mine but I'm doing all weird and strange so I can't help you with what I am specifically doing but my curiosity is raised. I see LED trucker running and brake lights that are 12v. I wonder if you could swap out the red or amber lenses for a clear one? The LED's do use less Current but I notice they also have heat, how much heat idk? Good Luck and keep us updated on what you end up with.

Converting our halogens at home saved a bundle on electricity. There some on ebay and more reputable sources with the search "off road led lights". They put out quite a bit of light with low power consumption.

Check out rigid industries for great LED lights that pull hardly any power and can't be beat when it comes to light output.

1BDPRECEDENT

I tried going the L.E.D. route for my headlights because of the load the halogen bulbs put on my converter. I ordered and installed these direct replacement L.E.D. bulbs, I was rather disappointed in their performance. They do produce a lot of light very efficiently but do not project the light that they make. So that makes doing 28+ mph in total darkness a nail biting ride, you can't see far enough in front of you to react at those speeds. I ended up trying to go the HID route, they project extremely well but draw more current than the L.E.D. However they drew less than the halogen, so I decided that HID was the way to go. So to reduce the load on my converter I just added a small 10A converter dedicated to power the HID ballasts, problem solved and the light output is ridiculous.

Thanks for the report on these, I was about to order some, but now it's back to the drawing...my 55W HID's are killing my Aux. battery!

Well these may work for me, I'm only doing the stock speed. How are they at 14 mph?

I also did a lot of research here on lights and after reading quite a few negatives on LED's and battery unbalance and inverter cost etc., I decided on a pair of inexpensive ($20) 55 watt fog lights from Walmart. I replaced the 12 volt H3 halogens bulbs with 36 volt H3 halogen bulbs and connected them to my 36 volt battery pack through a fuse and a switch. They only draw 3 amps and do a good job of lighting the roadway and are fine for my occaisional 18-19 mph jaunts after dark. I like to keep things simple ("KISS"), and this worked great for me. - RAY
