New Batteries
So I got 6 new exide Gc135 6 volts this week. Put them in my ezgo txt series cart and charged them untill the charger turned off all day and into the night. Took it out for the first ride today and on my digital volt meter in my dash that I got from Scotty my voltage was dropping into the high 35 low 36. Now after resting the meter reads 38.0. Is this normal and can I charge tonight or do i need to wait untill I run it down to 37.3. I thought my voltage should recover to 38 when riding.

Re: New Batteries
Lead-acid wet cells have no memory, so you don't have to discharge them to some arbitrary voltage before recharging.
In fact, the higher the State of charge you keep your batteries at, the longer their life expectancy. The greater the current draw from a battery, the greater the voltage drop, so it will drop more during acceleration and climbing hills. Just like you need to wait several hours after a battery comes off charge to get a meaningful State of Charge voltage read, you have to wait several minutes after the battery has been used got get a accurate SoC reading. |
