Default New controller installed, slow reverse now?

Bought a new 500amp Alltrax for my 36volt ezgo txt series cart. Followed scottyb's instructions and forward works great, reverse is slow and then after 20' or so it will just stop pulling in reverse? I've emailed Scotty, but it's the weekend, so I may have to wait til Monday. Any ideas?

Without knowing a lot of details. Is your battery pack fully charged? Maybe test the individual batteries. There is the chance that going in reverse, through the resistor circuit of reverse, is dropping the voltage to low for pulling the solenoid closed and cutting off all power. Sorry I can't help more, hopefully not giving you bad info. Check all your battery posts and connections for cleanliness and security. If still nothing you may have to wait for scottyb to reply. I'm sure he will know something. My series cart is built to go half speed in reverse and that is normal. Quitting after 20 feet is not.

Good Luck
Shon

Does it actually stop when in reverse?

The Alltrax controllers can be programmed for 1/2 speed in reverse, which I believe is how Scotty sends them out. Full speed in reverse, especially on the 500amp could be a very big handful.

It actually stops. Batteries are fully charged, goes like crazy in forward?

I'd call Scotty directly, if you purchased it from him. (Hopefully you did.)

Yes, do call me. Or did you? I took so many calls today. Nutterbug just isn't ringing a bell 20 ft and stop sounds like you are not getting anything in reverse... maybe an F&R problem? Anyway give me a call with your real name and I will look up your build records and see what could be wrong.

We did email back and forth yesterday. You have an email now. I pulled the orange wire off and it will spin the tires on the driveway in forward or reverse. But with it hooked, it will go real slow and stop in reverse, forward is fine? I went ahead and charged the batteries last night. It was charged fully two weeks ago and has just been sitting in the garage, but I'm sure it wasn't 100%? Going to check the pack voltage this evening. The FnR is new, and I ordered your heavy duty buss and put it on. Just to be clear, I tried the cart before I changed the cam and it was slow in reverse before I changed the cam. Batteries were bought new 9/2011, changed cables to 4ga. My email shows up as rb@hutchersonconstruction.com

And your customer service is and has been great.

Thanks

The orange wire is the half speed reverse option. Lots of guys choose to run with it disconnected because they use the cart off road or in other situations where full power is better.
It sounds like you may have a battery issue> do you have the digital meter connected so you can see what the voltage is dropping to when the cart stops? A big drop indicates a supply problem. The solenoid is on it's way in 2-3 day mail.

I will check it tonight? What should it be at resting state and when under load?

thanks,
Randy
