What is the year of this TXT
Hey guys (and girls)
New to the forum. Just bought my 2nd cart today. Needing to know some more info on it. First, What year is it. Numbers under the dash read as follows: 771229 IU37I2 Also, it a 36volt system. Didn't come w/ batteries. And I have read most of the anti 3/12 volt batteries post. But, like I said before, this is my second cart and more my kids "toy" than anything and I really dont want to spend 500. So will the 3/12 last me aleast a year? They my ride it 4 or 5 times a week on flat, level ground. Last but not least. Did I get a good deal? Got the cart, an extra motor and charger for 250? Thanks! |

Welcome to BGW
where did you get them numbers from?, you need the Manufacturer's Code, look at this link and it will help you find the numbers. The numbers that you posted says the cart is a 1993 4 stroke, so some thing is wrong, but for the 3 12v batteries you want to use, yes it will run the cart, but it will not run long, and the batteries will not last /short life http://www.shopezgo.com/customer-ser...ialNumber.html click on the pic to enlarge |

Re: What is the year of this TXT
Welcome to BGW!
The attached may not be exact, but they might be pretty close. Three 12V deep cycle batteries would probably work okay, but have a relatively short run-time. Three car batteries (SLI batteries) would have a much shorter run-time and wouldn't last very long since they are designed for a burst of current and immediate recharge instead of a steady drain over time and periodic recharges. Also, the initial charge rate of your 36V charger might be a little hot for 12V batteries. Check the amp-hour ratings. Charger current should be about 10-13% of battery A-H rating at 20 hour discharge rate. As for the deal you got. If the charger is one of the automatic Ferroresonant Transformer types, it is probably worth what you paid for everything. |

Re: What is the year of this TXT
I got the numbers from under the passengers side dash. It may not be a "txt" It reads textron on the tag, and I assumed that meant txt. I typed in the serial number and it came back to a gas cart? As far as batteries, Is there any other solution besides the 3 12volts? Thanks for all the replies

Re: What is the year of this TXT
TXT is a body style, Textron is a company EZGO bought.
You've got a Marathon - Three-wheeler - Year unknown. Might also be called an X-440 The drive system might be the "Resistor" type or it might have an Electronic Speed Control. I'm no expert on EZGO history, but the body style sequence goes something like: Marathon: 1975 - 1993 Medalist: 1993 - 1999 TXT: 1996 - Present RXV: 2008 - Present ST: 1999 - Present Workhorse: 1996 - 2003 MPT: 2004 - Present Plus some Industrial, Cargo and Personnel Carriers tossed into the mix. Type in the IU3712 number (or some gibberish) into the serial number look-up website and it'll give you a phone number to call or a e-mail address for further info. they might be able to ID your cart, or narrow the year down some from the 1975 - 1993 that the Marathon was produced. If it is a 36V system, 6 x 6V is the best solution. You might save a few $ up front by going with 180AH 6V batteries instead of the standard 225AH 6V batteries, but the higher AH batteries usually are more economical in the long run. Whatever you get, charge the batteries fully before first use and break them in properly. (New batteries only have about 75% of their max storage capacity and have to be "Matured" to get 100%) |

Re: What is the year of this TXT
Just got a new to me Ezgo and trying to find the year. I think it is a 95 or 96. I typed in the serial and the Manuf. code and it said it couldn`t recognize the #. Tried each individually and got the same result. Serial# 860975 .... Manuf. code# C1395. Any ideas?
