batteries dead without even driving it
Hey guys, i just bought this 2008 pds and noticed twice now i go out and batteries show low on guage and they were fully charged two days ago. Now i did hook up a set of lights and a cig lighter but they were off. Also while installing new battery cables i noticed some were loose. It seems to run good and batteries seem to hold charge while driving. And also tow switch was in tow or maintainance position while sitting in garage.

Re: batteries dead without even driving it
Are your lights and power plug connected to a voltage converter. If it is not switched on the input, it will still consume current. Exactly how much I don't know, but that could be draining your batteries.

A voltage converter would be an aftermarket add-on.

Re: batteries dead without even driving it
Any teenagers in the neighborhood that know your work schedule and how to open your garage?
The batteries in my '08 PDS aren't very good, but it'll sit three or four days in "Run" without the batteries dropping below 90% SoC and they'll only charge to about 95% these days. What is your pack voltage after 12 hours rest. Should be 38.2V for a "Full" charge. (Batteries have a surface charge when they first come off the charger, 12 hours is usually enough to deplete it) Also, what are the individual battery voltages? Should be about 6.37V and no more than about 0.2V (less is better) between highest and lowest. PS - Get rid of that LED Bar Graph SoC gauge and get a DVM type. |
