possible to beef up suspension without changing width
Initially, I thought a shock upgrade might be the correct answer.
Here is the situation.. 1998 txt series, with stock tires fits perfectly through the gate to where it sleeps.. Any wider and she wont fit through the fence anymore. Her primary purpose is to tear through the poorly maintained alleys of the neighborhood, with occasional jaunts into town for pizza, nitetime time trials around the golf course cart path.. That was all in the first week... I know there is a wealth of information on here about lifting these carts.. so my concern is how is the best way to get some extra lift, to safely clear some manhole covers with 4 adults on board, but without increasing the width of the cart? |

Re: possible to beef up suspension without changing width
Heavy duty leaf springs front and rear will raise the cart an inch or so and keep it from rubbing the bodywork on the tires when loaded with 4 adults. It will ride stiffer when unloaded however, some say too stiff, but I like it that way.

Re: possible to beef up suspension without changing width
FWIW,
I put HD front and rear springs on my 1998 TXT and love the ride. I added two extra batteries under the seat, and mine has a rear seat, and I do a combination of 67% paved road, 33% gravel, but at least for me, the ride isn't worse. My rears went from two leaves to four, and I'm happy. Others have complained. |

Thanks the leaf springs sounds like the way to go. Browsing site sponsers, ow. Yurtle, what tire/rims are you using?

Re: possible to beef up suspension without changing width
eastcoastcarts looks like they might be local to me.
narrowing it down to a set of Heavy duty 4 leaf springs, bushings. and also thinking about adding the Economy lift kit, 4" lift, if that makes sense.. |

Re: possible to beef up suspension without changing width
If you lift it and add bigger tires, it won't make the gate.

Re: possible to beef up suspension without changing width
That is true gornoman, I was hoping the economy lift would only raise the body up and not spread out the wheels. The kit looks like it contains only blocks and spacers..allowing for taller tires on the stock rims, while allowing me to get a second set of tires for the campground trails.

Re: possible to beef up suspension without changing width
HI Token, I am looking for user opinions on the 4 in. Economy lift. Was wandering if you looked into it more or maybe even went that route?
Thanks! |
