Advice on buying cart?
I am thinking about buying electric EZ Go cart to use in mountains of AZ. I know it will be a continuing hobby to keep running. I used to keep a 68 VW convertible running, mainly electrical connections, etc. Would the pictured 80 golf cart be a possible good buy at $1200? I realize it is only 2 pictures. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Advice on buying cart?
Yes, depending upon the age and condition of the batteries
The batteries will have a date (05) stamped on the post. Average life is 5 years if more than 3 yrs old, start bargaining for replacement $....Check local sources for price? |

Re: Advice on buying cart?
Can't really see from the picture but resistor controlled carts are notoriously harder on battery packs than newer solid state controller carts. I agree with scottyb. If pack is 3 years old or older you should seriously consider the cost of a new battery pack in valuing the cart since you will be replacing the pack soon.
Good luck and |

Welcome to the forum stevenh21.......................
In our part of Texas, if the cart had brand new batteries, it would be worth about $1000.00. |

Looks to be in pretty good shape, but I agree with scott, you might want to consider a new set of power cells. What kind of terrain will you be running on, and is the cart set up to handle those conditions? Hilly needs torque, flat needs top speed.

Re: Advice on buying cart?
Thanks for the advice. It would mainly be used on-road, some minor hills and gravel. I will need to check on the batteries.

Re: Advice on buying cart?
Long as the batteries are good, the motor is strong, and the brakes will stop you on a good grade..., $1200 is not a bad price.
And I say that mostly because it looks to come with a lift kit and bigger tires already installed, which would run into a few hundred $$ easy if you installed them yourself. So how does she run? Strong, stable, no unusual noises? Steering feel tight and responsive, brakes squeak or grap? No motor noises, nice linear acceleration? All this stuff you need to consider before getting too far from the main gate or coming off the top of a mountain. If you think its cause for concern..., fix it before you get too far from the house..., or it could turn into a long walk home when you least expect it. |

Re: Advice on buying cart?
This is just my $0.02. For a little more cash you can get say a......mid 90's up EZ. Then you have all kinds of options as far as parts and customizing. With that model you will find it harder to find parts, etc for.
