Default First post / First Cart!

Hey all, I just picked up my first Cart from a buddy for the low price of free! I have been wanting to get one, and this will be a good project. I still dont know anything about these , but It appears to be a 94 EZGO TXT 36 volt series setup. It runs pretty well on flat ground (11 mph) but really struggles up the small gradual inclines. The batteries are prob on their last leg.

I will probably put 4 ga wires on it to help me get through the season. I dont want to throw a bunch of money at it because I plan on doing a conversion over the winter, but are their any small things you reccomend to perk it up for the season? I'm not a big electrical guy.

I have seen emp and plumquick will do mods to the stock motor, so maybe that will wake her up. Dont really want to throw a ton of money on a controller or going 48v cuz that would be a waste for me since everything is getting yanked back out after the summer.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Paint it!! I've seen some great rattle can jobs on here.

That's cheap..

...and I bet you have a new motor on the way within 10 days

(that's how long I lasted)

Ha thanks man! I'm already bitten by the bug. I have a supercharged 4 stroke sea doo powered yamaha GPR and a cummins powered F150 so my wife is already wondering what will get wedged in the cart over the winter!

I like building freaks but this will have to stay low key until it gets too cold to ride.

Man , 10 days is a long time! definitely gonna get some paint on there this week. Do the upgrades from emp or plumquick run like they say on a 36 volt setup? 250 bucks would be worth it if they do

Odds are that the batteries are your main cause of decline in uphill speed, have you hooked them up load tested them?

Welcome to the fun!

Here's a rattle can paint job! I used Rustoleum paint high output! This allows the paint to stay wet enough to prevent the high low lustering. Of course you will need to move at a decent pace and be sure to have enough cans ready. Wear breathing protection and ground cover if needed.

The body was off the cart, if you go that route you will end up dismantling the whole thing pretty much and getting out some of those rusted screws will be another issue!

tg, welcome to bgw. that's a heck of a good buy. what you have is a medalist. same as a txt except for the body. my avatar shows my medalist with a txt front end. good cart to mess with, if it is a series cart, you can't go wrong with upgraded cables. you can use the on your upgrade later. be sure to replace all 13 (on a series cart) with at least 4ga. cables.

Man thats a nice looking rattle can job I have a few days off coming up so I will strip it down, and spray it. I'll post pics

Thanks everyone for the welcome.. The batteries are going to get replaced with all new 4 ga wiring to get me through the season! The ones in there now are 07's and did not load test well.

I thought it may be a medalist but I'm still learning these carts, Thank you

Should be alot of fun messing with this thing. I already picked up a flip down rear seat for it too.

THanks again
