Default No forward, no reverse, no BU beeper

First time poster.
Have a later model TXT (Powerwise) on charger, not a PW2 (no ID plate on cart). Wouldn't roll the other night and put it back on the charger. Charger ran for a minute or 2, and gurgled a bit, then shut off. Did it again, same thing. looked under seat and the 60 amp Mega fuse had a broken clip, connected to the positive bat, from the charger receptical, so I was charging only neg side. So, replace Mega fuse with a similar Auto zone fuse, and no go. (44 volts while charging, 38.9 after charge) No Beep no roll, no forward, no reverse.

I assume the broken fuse clip was not allowing a charge, for who knows how long, but after new fuse, nada. 36 volt cart. Series cables, reed switch. What did I possibly cook charging only the neg. side?

Slightly perplexing. Thanks for help.

Welcome to BGW!

The batteries are connected in series, so charge current flows through all of them. The is no positive and negative side. The battery pack is just a long cable with some lumps in it (batteries) with a positive terminal at one end and a negative terminal at the other end.

With the fuse clip broken, none of the batteries were charging.

The 38.9V after charging, indicates replacing the fuse solved the charging issue, but there still may be battery issues.

What is the pack voltage and the individual battery voltages 12 hours after the charger automatically turns off?
Should be 38.2V for the pack and 6.37V for each battery. Also each battery should be with 0.1V of each other.

Unless the batteries are really, really bad, you should at least be getting the reverse beeper.

Does the solenoid click?

What type drive system. (Series, DCS or DPS)

I don't know if it's been said but check the reed switch first.

Thanks for the replies. (wife has called a buggy repairman, don't want to pay if I don't have to) All batteries are over 6.4 volts. I will check to see if voltages are close to each other, but don't think they are. (total of 38.9V after charging)

No solenoid click. Wiring colors are different from the diagrams posted in the stickeys. Curtis PCM controller. Fairly newer cart. (the 10 pin connector is five over five and not in a row and no numbers). Type of drive? I'm clueless.

I've read about the reed switch but not really sure this cart has one. There is a small red wire coming out of the charging port, connected to the white charging wire, going all the way to the controller, but I can't find the glass tubey thing, that can go bad.

Hope this helps.

the batteries need to be tested after the batteries have been off the charger for 12 hours, any test before 12 hours will be a false reading,

Look at the photo above and you'll see the reed switch. While it's glass inside, it is encapsulated in plastic. It should be a closed switch if the charger plug is unplugged.

As to pin numbering, often you have to get out your glasses and a light and pin #1 is stamped in the plastic cover. I'm speaking in general terms about plugs, and buggies may not have that. I just checked my Curtis series controller and it has no pin numbers.

Batteries should have enough oomph to sound beeper and close solenoid with that kind of voltage right after charging.

If the controller has a ten pin connector and several other connectors, it is probably a PDS cart (Precision Drive System).
You should have a Run/Tow switch on the controller cover and the F/R switch should be a rocker type switch next to the key-switch.

Here is a schematic with the solenoid activation circuit traced out.
The wire colors should match unless your cart is something other than a PDS or if the wiring has been changed by a previous owner.

Is the Run/Tow switch in the Run position???

BTW: The Run/Tow switch should be in Tow when you work on the cart's electrical system or the controller is very likely to turn into a boat anchor.

The Reed switch in my 2008 PDS was bypassed at the factory, but receptacle still looks the same as the picture posted and wired the same.

Looking at your pic, mine merely has the red wire coming out of the charger recep. going to the spade connector in the pic, but no white wire with the plastic part in the pic. Guess I don't have a reed switch. But the red wire goes to the controller thru 2 spade connectors. I bought this thing refurbished 2 years ago and has run great.

Run/tow is in run. I never play with it, unless in tow position. Jumpered positive solenoid to B+ and no click.
Go figga', Any chance on a pedal or F/R switch issue?
