Default 2001 EZGO Electric

Hi Everyone. I am new to the forum and am looking to buy my first cart. I am not in a big hurry or anything so I am looking to save money by doing as much work as I can myself. I have been looking around for a 2000 or up EZGO and have found a 2001 "fixer-upper". The body of the cart is all in good shape and has all the controller and all other electronics. The downside is that their is no batteries, motor or rear differential so basically I would have to purchase those items in order to build this cart. Everything else on he cart looks to be in very good condition. Do you guys think $800 would be too much to put into this cart?

Thanks,

Lee

Welcome to the forum rleetsc............................

In my opinion, it would all depend on what I could get the items for, that it needs. Hopfully at a good price. Then it could be that the controller may be no good. Does the cart look like it has ever been under water?

The batteries will cost approximately $600.00

The rear end with motor, used, could cost $600.00

Add the above $1200.00 with the $800.00 for the cart.

Will you be happy with $2000.00 in it?

It's up to you. You could luck out and get the rear end cheaper.

Hope this helps a little..............

Thanks Rusty. I was assuming $550 to $600 for the batteries but it's the rear end I am really unsure about. I really don't know where to find the parts used other than ebay which I have not been able to locate them there so far. Any advice in that area would be awesomeI have considered buying a new motor but I still need to find the remainder of the rear end somewhere. I have been assured that the controller is good and it did not appear that it had ever been under warranty as everything looked very clean. Putting $2000 in it would not be that big of a deal considering most carts comparable in my area that are already up and running seem to be closer to $3000. Once it is running my plan would be to have the body painted however we decide we want it and lift it up followed by stereo, etc... etc...

The shop tossed out the $800 number when I asked about it so I would assume they could come off of that. I thought about waiving $500 cash in his face to see what his reaction would be.
