Vinyl Help - I screwed up
Well I screwed up, and it's a bit humbling as I would have totally yelled at the kids for this...
I sat a tire on the rear seat for a bout a week without putting down some cardboard or a towel, well now I have a lovely mark on the seat that appears to be permanent. I've tried everything, vinyl cleaner, carpet cleaner, purple power, and even mineral spirits. Nothing.... any ideas? |

Re: Vinyl Help - I screwed up
soft scrub worked best on my seats using a fairly stiff brush and elbow grease

Mr. Clean Magic Eracers have worked for some unusual areas. That looks like dye transfer. Alcohol might work. Or even rubbing compound.

Try charcoal lighter fluid... soak a rag and lay it on the stain for about 10 minutes and then try scrubbing it. Caution it is flammable but we have found it works wonders on the vinyl and even the black scuff marks on the body.

Could that be a rust stain from the wheel? If so, you can try CLR ( very dilute phosphoric acid ). Try it in a hidden area first, though!

Re: Vinyl Help - I screwed up
Good ol bleach works wonders on dye type stains. You could try cleaner with bleach as it should have the correct proportion of bleach to water/cleaner. (be careful not to use the bleach full strength). Good luck - RAY
PS - The CLR suggestion is a good one if it is rust. Last edited by bigstik40; 05-14-2012 at 08:41 PM.. Reason: Add PS |

It is not rust it is dirt and tire dressing. No to soft scrub, no to 3m adhesive remover, no to charcoal lighter fluid, so far nothing working.
