Charger Wanted
Looking for a charger that will fit a 95 Ezgo 36V. Would prefer someone in S.C. to save on shipping. Thanks!

If you live near a big city, they show up on Craigslist. They are pretty heavy, and shipping's gonna cost. You can also try the For Sale forum here, or eBay, but if you're gonna spring for a new one, cartsunlimited.com is where I got mine. |

I've got a powerwise 2 charger with the d style plug that I've been trying to sell since I went to 48 volts. Not sure if the plug will be right for you though.

Re: Charger Wanted
Even if the plug's not right, I'm sure the guys here could help us rewire it to get it right! I'll let it go for $175 if you come get it. I'm in Walterboro and I work in Ridgeland. Let me know if you want to come get it or meet somewhere. I will go as far as Columbia, but I'll need some extra for gas.

Re: Charger Wanted
I know its been discussed at length here, I read through the threads before I bought but, I bought the $99 charger from Samsclub on sunday online and it was delivered last night. Plugged it in (it came with ezgo plugs already) and it worked fine for me. Seems to charge 10-12 amps, fast enough for me. It's made by Stanley.

The Stanley charger operates at 12.5 amps on the 36v setting. It does take a little longer to charge, but it works fine and the charging cycle is completely automatic. It also works with 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 volt batteries and has battery clamps, ezego and club car connecters included. What's not to like about that? |

If it is one of the old transformer types, it is repairable and fairly easy to troubleshoot. Fix it and keep as a back-up or sell it. |

The dude says the transformer is bad. When I bought the cart he said the charger worked. But when I plugged the charger to the cart the first time, no amps showed on the meter, but the transformer was humming like it was working. I figured the meter was just bad. I left it on charge all night, cart was still dead in the morning. So, I called the dude and he said take the cover off and check the big fuse inside. When I did that I found that the fuse was wrapped in aluminum foil. The guy promised me several times he'd fix it, but now just ignores my calls and texts and he's too far away for me to chase down. In my opinion he's a thief now. I would have checked it out myself but I had sent my son to go pick the cart and charger up when I bought it and he didn't know to check it. It's nice cart, '96 TXT in good shape with new tires and batteries and I paid 1350 for it, so not a bad deal even without the charger. Is there a place to buy parts for these chargers? (I'll search but just thought I'd ask) To the OP, sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread. I hope you find a charger soon. |

My apologies for the hijack also, but if you're comfortable with taking the cover off an electrical gadget and can use a multimeter, you might find a non-functioning old transformer type automatic charger and fix it yourself. They are 100% repairable, with the transformer being an exception due to cost. The transformer is available, but it costs more than a new DPI 36V charger, which is a transformer type with a more sophisticated output circuit. ---------------- @ 53jimc: Here is the Owner/Service/Parts manual for TC III and IV. If you feel game on fixin' it, start a new thread and we will walk you through it if needed. Good news is that the transformer hums. I'd check the diodes first. (Replace them both if one is bad. 1N1184 will work.) Also get ride of the aluminum foil. The fuse can be found at a hardware store. Other parts can be obtained from EZGO and/or through many of the Site Sponsors. |
