When she catches fire..., get out!
I know that didn't help, but I couldn't resist. |

Re: Resistor coil fires?
Welcome to BGW stik
At WOT the coils are completely out of the circuit. At partial throttle, like half speed, your using the same amount of power as you were going wide open. The resistors burn the extra power off as heat. Check to make sure it's getting WOT. |

Re: Resistor coil fires?
Sounds like you're dropping the whole supply across the single coil. Might take a closer look at your wiring/connections.

Re: Resistor coil fires?
Unfortunately the resistors get red hot and can start a fire. I don't know if someone undersized a coil for that speed or if it is burning thinner and thinner making it glow hotter. Be careful with it now that you know about it.
Keep a bag of marshmallows in the glove box; at least it wouldn't be a total loss... |

Re: Resistor coil fires?
You might want to look over the wiper contact that goes from the throttle to the resistor block. I found a little crud between the contact pads. A shot of contact cleaner did it. hope this helps..
