Default Looking to buy Old EZGO--What to look for?!

I found an old ezgo off of Craigslist that I am interested in. All I know is that it has three wheels. Should I waste my money? I don't really need a good looking car (although that would be nice), I just need something for grounds work. How much money do you think I could end up throwing into it? All inputs are welcome!

IMO, rust is also a major concern. I am currently working on two very rusted frames and it is a pain. And on an old cart your frame options will be very limited.

i would also say that if it isnt running you will probably spend more getting it going than buying a good running cart. Whatever you think you will spend to get it going, double it. then you have a good ball park. Im not saying dont do it just make sure you know what you are getting into. Are you looking for a project or a cart? (all this info is from all kinds of projects i have done, i am new to carts but this holds true for most things, from cars, to houses, to 4 wheelers.)

also does it have a charger? a good charger is $200 to $400.

best of luck.

how often do batteries need to be replaced--and how much do those usually run for a 36v?

I would stay away from the 3 wheelers. Down here in South Florida you couldn't give them away. I've heard horror stories about those carts flipping and you're definitely talking about an old cart.

You can probably pick up a 1996 or newer club car or ezgo for under $500. Don't expect anything fancy, but it can be done.

As for batteries, with proper maintenance you should expect 3-5 years from a set, but this obviously also depends on how often you use them.

With an EZGO the biggest issue is going to be rust. With Club Car you need to check the frame for any bends, aluminum is resistant to rust but is soft and can bend and tweak if used offroad or in a minor fender bender.

Either way, make sure you can drive it. Even with weak batteries you want to make sure it drives. Buying a cart with no batteries it a toss up, because it may have other issues. While driving it listen for any weird sounds and pay attention to any wobbles.

Good luck
