2008 EZGO PDS to Series Conversion
First a little background on me and my cart. I was an auto mechanic for a while so I know how to turn a wrench (righty tighty, lefty loucy), I have completely wired several houses and have installed quite a few low voltage control systems for furnaces and A/C so I am very comfortable with wiring.
I bought my cart back in August, being my first one and knowing absolutely nothing about them I made the costly mistake of going to a dealer, giving him a list of what I wanted, and paid the big money After getting the cart and seeing just what it was all about I now do everything on my own and have become the goto guy in the neighborhood. The cart was originally an '08 EZGO TXT PDS with stock motor, controller with a speed chip, a Jakes long travel 6" lift 23x10.5x12 tires, painted body and aftermarket seats and the back foldout seat. We have several miles of paved roads in my neighborhood as well as a couple nice trails that require at least a lifted cart because it is rough and has a lot of small stumps where the PDS carts like mine would get up against a stump and stall, we knew not to horse the PDS carts so we would back out or pick up the back of the cart and move it over and this trail was also a fairly slow moving trail so it was no surprise when I burned up my motor I was planning on upgrading anyways just not this soon. I knew I could upgrade to a kick butt PDS controller and motor and probably never have another problem but I also saw how much torque the series carts had and I really liked that and of course I did not want to give up any speed So after reading a lot of info on BGW and other research I decided I would go with a series sertup. The first nobrainer decision was to go to 48v which was so easy to do I would recommend everyone with a controller that supports 48v to do it. I also figured I would go all out and called Plum Quick about an Assassin motor, unfortunately after 4 weeks of calling to try to talk to Rob about which controller I needed I gave up and sent an email to Chuck at EMP Inc. and a new friendship was born. I need a break (read: time for a cold beer and a ride with my dog ) Much more to come |

Did you lose your PDS Club membership?
Great looking cart man FWIW I tried going through Plum first as well and was not too impressed with the customer service - Called D&D and was well taken care of. Look forward to "chapter 2" |

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS to Series Conversion
I wanted to ask how you like the reversing contactor for the F/R? I just upgraded all of my wiring to 2 guage and installed the HD cam in my F/R lever getting ready for the 48 volt conversion in my series. The bad part is that the now the original part of the switch assembly is giving me fits leading me to believe it is worn out. I was thinking about the SW202 and a toggle switch to get rid of the manual swiping of the series switch. Any thoughts positive or negative would be appreciated before I make another purchase.
Thanks, Chris |

Hypersprint great choice om coming over to series.
Plum quick has very bad customer service to call and chat but if something break they get on it quick. also the assasin motor is not for lifted carts it will burn up its made for high rpm and speed. Also post some pics of the reversing contactor because i am building a 72 volt limo cart and i want to go with the reversing contactor. thanks |

or here. I have seen where several guys are changing the manual switches over to the SW202 for folks that start having trouble handling the manual switch. |

The SW202 on the left is for F/R and the one on the right is for the Speed/Torque mode in the 2 speed EMP motor. The tow strap in the bottom of the pic use to be for towing me home, now it is used to pull out 4 wheelers |

If I recall your tires are 25" and I still would love to get together and try them on my cart, especially now And my garage fridge is always full of beer
