Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
I have an EZGO electric cart with the bar(s) battery meter. It's fully charged and I get 37.5V total however the battery meter is only showing about half way up the bars. As a test, I did unhook power for several minutes (which I suppose reset the meter) and it showed all bars like it should. Now, after running it down somewhat and recharging, it won't reset and show the full charge again. Can these meters go bad or what does this sound like? Thanks.

Re: Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
A full charge is 38.2, your batteries are coming up to a full charge. The meter needs to see a preset amount equivalent to a full charge to reset. The problem may be that your batteries are old or one has failed.

Re: Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
The 37.5V was a full charge but it's been sitting 2-3 days since the charge so that might not be accurate. I'm at charging again now overnight and will record the individual voltages in the morning.
Regarding your answer about the gauge needing to see a certain amount of current before resetting, why does the gauge read full bars when I disconnect from power and then reconnect a few minutes later? Thanks. |

Re: Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
Is this a new install of the meter ? Is it possible the + wires are hooked up incorrectly ?? Term 1 should be contant power from the pack, term 2 should be ground from the pack and term 4 should be switched 36.

No, not a new meter install.

okey dokey. Just a thought. Thought your two positives may have been reversed. Would cause it to reset each time you turned on the key.. Just for grins, you may want to check voltages at the meter itself

Re: Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
After charging and sitting several hours, the total voltage is 37.7v. The batteries are:
6.20 6.36 6.32 6.29 6.27 6.25 Are any of these bad enough to replace? I still don't get the gauge reading half full. Even in the past when I had a really bad battery that went from 6v to 4v in 10 mins the gauge worked accordingly (started full and dropped quickly). Now it won't increase past half unless I disconnect power temporarily. |

Re: Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
I have one that is always around 6.2 and I think that it needs replaced. I am sure somebody will chime in with more knowledge that me but I believe that all of them that are under 6.3 would be suspected bad. Hope all gets worked out. I also installed a digital meter that tells the actual voltage in mine a while back and love it. Got it from Scottyb and it is nice because you can see the voltage as you are driving and how much it goes down in real time.

Re: Help with EZGO Electric Battery Meter
i havee seen plenty of bad meters. sounds like since the reset was done and still not reading right, you need a meter. IMO they are all junk, excpet for a few. I like to see V on a gauge, not led lights.
