Default Are my batteries shot

Hi, First post but ive been reading the post for a while. alot of good info.
I have a 97 txt it has done fine till this past winter. we left it outside the shop for a few days when it was below freezing and battery voltage was low enough it would not charge. had to use a regular charger then plug in the other one. it has since not been holding a charge as long and if going up a hill o the other shop about one trip is all you get. flat ground does fine. if you go up hill a second time it dies out and barely moves and as it drops off it growls. load tested each battery and there at 6v no load and 5v loaded. the batteries are 7 years old. should i just quit crying and fork out the money for new ones.

7 y/o batteries IMO you got good life out of them. 5-7 years is the life span I normally see when I work on them. Some do come in from time to time 10+ years and holding a perfect charge and load. But that's due to the customer taking perfect care of them.

Start shopping ;)

Your old batteries may have frozen if the cart was outside and the batteries low on charge. I understand that this busts the plates apart and renders the batteries useless. I would make sure you have a full charge if you have to leave your cart in freezing temperatures!

Batteries ought to have a full charge or be on charge whenever you are not actually driving cart.
