Default Charging time approximate 95 36 volt medalist

I have new batteries that are about a month old now and following advice I received from this board. I have been charging them every day to every other day.

Well today the gauge I bought from Scotty B was reading 38.2 and it had not been charged for 2 days (used very little last 2 days).

I hooked it up and it charged for about an hour and then shut off. I checked it after it shut off and it read 38.9.

Question is, is an hour adequate time to charge? 38.9 is fully charged based on the chart. I just want to be sure I am doing everything correctly

Your charge time is directly proportional to the discharge level of the pack. If you drove the cart a mile per day for two days, that's not much use, and will have a relatively short charge time. I would guesstimate I put 7 miles per day on my cart at the railyard, with a fair amount of equipment towing in that mileage. Sometimes after a long day (less than 8 hours from the end of one day to the start of the next) the charger would still be trickling (very seldom) when I got in the next morning.

My chart has 38.2 as 100% charged. I wish my batteries were holding at 38.2 after 2 days with little use...but then mine are over 4 years old.

Like Kab said, how long it take to recharge depends on how much the batteries have been discharged. Only charging for an hour simply means they weren't discharged very much.

38.9V is over 100% on the chart, but new batteries have a higher terminal voltage than used ones and the chart is based on fully "matured" batteries. You fully charged voltage will probable drop down to the chart voltages in a few months.

Sounds like you are doing things right. Just keep them watered (Distilled water only) and the terminals clean & tight and they will last a long time.

Toss a $10 in a Mason jar every month after you service your battery pack and you'll have enough from a new set when needed, maybe with enough left over to take your sweetie out for dinner.

If you don't use your cart much, letting it sit for a couple days without charging doesn't hurt, just keep an eye on the DVM and put it on charge if it drops below 38.0V (Batteries self-discharge at about 1% per day.)
