Battery lugs - to tin or NOT to tin
Hopefully, the title says it all. I'm building my own cables using 4 gauge jumper cable, >100 strands, very flexible. The lugs are 4 gauge x 5/16" copper lugs. I'm using 40/60 rosin-core solder.
Should I tin the lugs for the battery connectors? I'm reasoning that, since the base of the battery posts are lead, I'll reduce corrosion using 40/60 solder where it contacts the post base. Am I over thinking this? Should I just wire brush the copper lugs and bolt 'em on? Suggestions appreciated, RLW |

Re: Battery lugs - to tin or NOT to tin
I would think that would be a great idea! What's it going to involve, a teense more solder!
