Replaced batteries and cart wont run
I have a 1991 EZGO with a solid state controller. The cart ran before I replaced the batteries. I got the wiring diagram and wired everything correctly but now it still wont run. Could I have shorted something when wired wrong? Can the micro switches be tested with an ohm meter? Any troubleshooting tips would be great.

Re: Replaced batteries and cart wont run
So you wired it incorrectly the first time then got the diagram and corrected? Yes the switches can be checked with an ohm meter. Do you get a solenoid click when you press the throttle or just dead?

Re: Replaced batteries and cart wont run
HEre is the solenoid activation circuit for your cart. trace it out and see where the + power fails to the solenoid small post... The solenoid must click (and make contact) to supply power to the controller.
Your cart is a controller cart, no? |

Yes I have a controller. This is the diagram I used to correctly wire the batteries. How do I check, Should I put the black lead from the meter on the negative at BR- and then place the red lead at the different points of the circuit? Do I need to press on the pedal to measure or will the voltage be there without pressing the pedal down.

2. With key switch on and F/R in F or R, you should have B+ all the way to the "C" terminal on the throttle microswitch (MS-3). When pedal is pushed, you should get B+ on NC terminal of MS-3. Since the cables got mixed up during the battery install and bad things might have happened, what is your battery pack voltage? |

OK I will check the circuit tomorrow. The battery pack measures 38 volts

Re: Replaced batteries and cart wont run
There is no power at the normally closed terminal of MS2 with the F/R lever in forward. I have ordered a new switch.

with the f-n-r switch in the "r" position do you hear the reversing alarm? If not it could be your reed switch off your charging recepticle.

Re: Replaced batteries and cart wont run
what actually does the diode do on the selenoid?? We've got similar issues but selenoid does click but cart only goes in reverse..... with no sign of speed control working - runs on or off. Has proper 0-5K reading at controller. Controller has no A2 lug - I grounded A2 wires to ground to make motor run at all. Any ideas??
