Default What year did ezgo 48v?

hi all,
Wondering what year ezgo went to stock 48v? 2010?
Thinking of buying another cart, rather get a stock 48v than a conversion.
Thanks

RXV's started the 48v on consumer golf cars. 2008 I think... All others prior to RXV are 36v.

A 36v factory configured golf cart runs 14mph.
A 48v factory configured golf cart runs 14mph. (These numbers are for illustration purposes only, but you get the idea.)

The reason we convert 36v carts to 48v is to make the original 36v motor spin faster making the cart run faster than the 14mph it was originally designed for. Hope this helps.

That is a nice flat ground comparison, but how do they compare on hills? Does a 48v maintain better speed on a hill?

Welcome to BGW!

I cannot answer your question directly, but from personal experience I would expect it to do hills better, even if it's only because of lower overall weight. I just don't want the OP to think a 48v cart is gonna be faster than a 36v cart, all things being equal.

i believ you can get a 48v TXT starting in 2010. They are pretty peppy. if you get one with a freedom package (hd lt and tail lights) if will run roughly 18.5 mph. Plus the controller is programmable by the dealer.

the only issues i had with them before i left the local dealer was the voltage regulator would go bad (same regulaotr yamaha uses, but cheaper).

I have an 09 rxv. My neighbor has a txt 36 volt. He constantly complains about it slowing down up hills with a speed chip installed. Both carts are lifted with 23" tires. Mine has been reprogrammed and runs 25mph and does not slow down on hills when on the paved surface. Off road extreme hills it still does good. At the end of the day mine is faster on the flats and leaves him in the dust on hills.

I was wondering, if you lost any run time when your RXV was "turned up"? Also did your lift make a difference in felt torque? Thanks

Turned up and lifted I road it from a full charge until limp mode kicked in and we went 24.8 miles. That was with 2 adults and 2 children on the back seat with some of it being off road. As far as torque it still accelerates strong but rxv's are known for not feeling strong torque at a dead stop but if rolling it feels like a rocket for a stock, as far as electronics go, cart. i go up the steepest of hills on our golf coarse and it maintains speed on paved hills.

I also own an 08 RXV and it behaves the same way from a dead start but I wonder if it does this on purpose. The drive system uses a 3 phase AC motor which should have tons of torque. If it went full throttle from a dead stop it might throw somebody off the cart
