Default New Batteries and Cables

Bought 6 new Interstate GC2-XHD-UTL batteries yesterday and 4 g cables. Anyone have any thoughts on these batteries, they are 232 aH 122 mins@75 amps. Charged them last night and have been riding it around work today to run them down some to recharge tonight, wanna make sure I break them in right.

I noticed at least one of the dealers in my area started to sell these batteries instead of Trojans. Hmmmmmmm.

So whats wrong with these cables, I got them from auto parts store... Whats the difference in these cables and ones made for a golf cart? I bought the batteries from Insterstate.

Interstate deep cycle batteries are made by US Battery.
My local Interstate dealer tells me his distributor says he has fewer warranty replacements on the GC2-XHD than the other grades of Interstate Deep cycle batteries. (There are five grades)

I'd like to know this too. There is a difference in car and cart cables?

Actually the green top Interstate GC2-XHD are made by Interstate in Mexico. They broke ties with US battery about 2 years ago and have been making their own batteries ever since. When US battery was making them, the 6 volt batteries were grey top with a white case and the 8 volt were red top with a white case. Now both the 6 and 8 volt models are green top with black case.

Technically the new green top GC2-XHD batteries are actually carrying more lead than even the Trojan T105, but time will tell if this is actually a benefit or not.

One thing to keep in mind with the new Green Top Interstate batteries..... In order to get more lead in them, Interstate made the plates taller. This doesn't present a problem until you realize that in the later stages of battery life (when your batteries are using more water), you will have to monitor water level more often than you do with say Trojan, US battery or Crown.......

The major difference is the number of strands per cable. Since power actually travels on the outside of the strands of wire, the more strands you have the more efficiently power can flow. Automotive cables typically have around 49 fairly thick strands of copper in a 4 guage wire, whereas Welding cable (what is typically used for upgrading cart wiring) will carry 420 strands (or more) in a 4 guage wire......

Also, most Automotive cable is fairly stiff and the outer insulation is designed to simply protect the wire from water. Welding cable is usually very soft and highly flexible, and is designed to protect against alot more agressive chemicals than standard auto grade wire (things like UV, battery acid, oil... you know... all the fun stuff..... lmao)
