Should I use ILSCO DE-OX?
I'm putting my '84 Marathon back together. Got the new battery trays welded in (although there are a couple of bad welds, need to get those fixed first). Pulled the resistor assembly, took it apart, cleaned up all the bolts and the parts of the coils that contact 'em with the wire wheel on my grinder, put that all back together. Made a set of 4 gauge cables for everything.
Back in '90, when I built my garage, I bought a bottle of ILSCO DE-OX to coat the aluminum feed wires for my breaker box. I found it the other day. It's supposed to be an anti-oxidant, and I was wondering if I should coat the battery terminals and lugs with it. When I made up my cables, I tinned all of the lugs that will be connecting to a battery terminal. So here's the question - would it be a good idea to apply this stuff to all of the high current connections in the cart, just the battery connections, or none of the above? Thanks, RLW |
