Default Hooking 48v to 12v Reducer to Keyswitch. Relay?

I'm just getting around to installing the 48v to 12v voltage reducer I got from ScottyB, and I need a little assistance. It has a remote turn on wire which I plan on hooking to my Harley Keyswitch that I bought off ebay like several others on here are using. The keyswitch has one input which will be 48v and then 2 outputs. The first output will be running my ignition and voltmeter like the stock keyswitch was, and the second output I want to hook up to run the remote on/off wire for the voltage reducer. Will I be ok running it this way, or will the switch not be able to handle this? I have seen a few guys recommending running the reducer off a relay, but I don't know if the ones they're referring to have the remote turn on or not. Advice? If I need the relay, I will need some help choosing it and on the wiring if this is the case. Thanks for your help.

What is the input voltage for the remote turn on/off lead to your reducer? Is it 48v or 12v. I connected mine off the key switch to a relay. If you have a picture of the reducer that would help.

It's 48v, and it's the same as the one listed here http://evdrives.com/DC_to_DC_product.html. The wiring diagram just shows using a switch for the remote, but I don't want to burn the cart up.

I didn't use a relay. The on/off lead draws very little current.

Thanks for the link, Looking at the schematic, The yellow wire(remote) would go to you key switch 48V, The red wire would go directly to 48V positive of you battery pack and the Black wire to the 48V negative of your battery pack. the 12v green wire off your converter would go to a positive terminal on a fuse block and another wire which you would have to run from the negative terminal off your battery pack for a 12v negative. You could run the green wire thru a inline fuse holder if you are powering only (1 ) 12v device. But the fuse block is neater and gives you the flexibility to add more 12v accessories later. That is what I did with mine.

Here is a picture of the fuse block I used. It is marine grade by Blue Sea Systems and has both a positive and negative bus bars. So all your 12v positive and negative leads are in one location and easier to add on to. It uses automotive style atc fuses. Just something to consider.

Thanks a lot guys. Hummerbear, that is the same fuse block that came in the mail for me today! Except, I got the 12 circuit one. Overkill, I know; just for lights, a radio, winch, and horn, but I may expand one day. lol. Going straight through the key switch will make it an easier install. I just got to go to the auto parts store to get some spade connectors and such, and I'll be all set! Thanks again Wrongway and Hummerbear!
