Default will they eventually equalize?

two batteries, furthest away from the controller one left and right, dont show the same volts as the other 4 in the back. These two show 8.5 while the others show 8.9. This is after a full charge. I got the 4 batteries two weeks ago and the two in question i got today. I left the 4 batteries disconnected while i was waiting on the two. While charging i noticed that the 4 get up in the 9's while the two slowly creep. The batteries are all the same brand.
Is this normal? I will be following the break in period SCOTTYB suggest. Is there something else i should be doing or looking at?

Based on the given info, give them time, they should equalize after more cycling.

I had this problem after using 2 batteries for my lights and radio, after I had a 48-12v reducer installed the batteries took maybe 10 or 15 full charges to now become fully even with the other 6. I do have 2 different ones that will be 6.3 while the others are 6.4 at full charge. The guys here told me not to worry thats normal.

The batteries are charged/discharged in a series loop, so a 0.4V voltage spread is significant, perhaps akin to mixing older and newer batteries.

Normally, I'd suggest charging the lower voltage batteries up to the higher voltage battery levels, but 8V chargers are few and far between, so it might be more practical to discharge the higher voltage batteries down to the lower voltage battery level. (An old 12V sealed beam headlight would work to discharge them.)

That way, all six 8V batteries should be at approximately the same SoC at the beginning of the charge cycle and should have received roughly the same amount of charging when the automatic charger shuts off.

They will have the same amount of current passing through them for the same length of time since the are connected in series, but what they do with that current depends on many variables and starting them all at the same voltage, eliminates one of the major ones.

You can put a 12v charger on an 8v battery IF the charger has a 2amp output setting. Read that again

Monitor the battery temperature and voltage every 30 minutes. Bring them up to 10.5v or more and let them settle before reintroducing them to the pack.

I do have a 2 amp setting on my charger. After charging them to 10.5 let them settle to same voltage as the other 4?

I would just give them a 3 or 4hour hour cooling off period.... It will just give them a little boost to start, total equalization will take a little time ... discharge shallow and recharge often.

I still cant get the batteries to equalize. I havent tried to draw the other 4 down to the level of the 2 low batteries but i have tried putting my 12v charger on 2 amp setting on the two batteries showing 8.4V and the charger chargers for about 5 minutes and switches to bad.
