1/0 wire upgrade
Cleaning out some boxes in the garage and came across about 15' of 1/0 power wire. Thinking of upgrading battery cables and cables going to the motor. Cart currently has 4 guage wiring. Cart already runs about 23/24mph. Would the 1/0 upgrade help any with performance.

Re: 1/0 wire upgrade
High strand count welding cable is better and I'm not sure if 15' is enough, but length needed depends of what drive system.
PDS/DCS take 10 cables, series type take 13 and I'm not sure about resistor cart. Unless your controller is 500A or more and your 4Ga cables are getting hot, you probably won't notice much, if any, performance improvement. |

Re: 1/0 wire upgrade
I disagree. 1) you aren't any where near enough in length and will have to buy allot more. 2) you will notice ZERO difference and for a $150+ investment and no return...ITS A WASTE of money.

Re: 1/0 wire upgrade
4 guage is plenty...As stated I think it would just be tossing a coin in a well and hoping for better performance without a payout..

Re: 1/0 wire upgrade
As long as you're not going to change cables, I suggest this is a good time to go through it and clean and tighten all those connections. Brush a dab of vaseline or white grease on all connections after you're done. - Good luck - RAY
