EZ-GO Electrical Problem
HELLO EVERYONE (new member) I recently purchased a used 1995 Easy-Go Golf Cart, just the real basics. The batteries were recharged, and I replaced one bad battery and now my battery tester is indicating that all six batteries[ 6 volts each] are reading at 36 volts.l. Now here is where things get interesting, I engaged the F/R lever to RUN and turn the ignition key to ON and engage the accelerator pedal and NOTHING! So now what, solenoid? controller? ignition switch? where do start! I've tested the hot lead wire to the electric motor and it's showing zero current! I could really use some electrical advice, does someone have a manuel and/or an electrical schematic to trouble shoot the problem-Thanks........

Re: EZ-GO Electrical Problem
A freshly charged 36v pack should read more than 38 volts. Have you load tested the batteries? Do you hear a click when you press the accelerator?

Re: EZ-GO Electrical Problem
no click and something else I forgot to mention, when I engaged the battery charger it kept charging and the batteries were getting hot and I could hear bubbling going on in the battery cells so I immediately disconnected the charger!

Re: EZ-GO Electrical Problem
The batteries will bubble while charging. It's called "gassing" and is completely normal. The batteries shold not get very hot at all. If they are getting real hot while charging the batteries are bad. I don't mean warm to the touch I mean HOT.
PG is correct, a 36 volt pack that reads 36 volts is dead. It should be higher than 36 volts when fully charged. |

Re: EZ-GO Electrical Problem
Surf, check out the wiring diagrams at the top of this forum, under stickies. Did your cart run before you replaced the battery?
