Default Clunk sound from the rear, now nothing.

Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and have renamed my GC from a Cushman to a Pushman. LOL
Just got the cart as part of a package deal and on it's maiden drive it broke down.
EZGO 1999 TXT Standard 36V. It appears to be a very clean cart and in good shape overall.
We drove the cart maybe a half mile at slow speeds around the campgrounds. I felt a slight stutter when I put it in reverse just minutes before it broke, but since all is new to me I thought this might be normal. We drove it a short distance and stopped. When we went to start again, I heard a clunk sound from the rear end and now the cart doesn't move at all. It pushes easy enough, hence it's new name.
The cart is fully changed according to the meter on the dash. The reverse buzzer sound when in reverse. When the accelerator is pressed, I can hear a solenoid click in the battery compartment. I didn't have my meter to check voltages, etc.
I suspect something in the rear end broke, maybe in the differential. I have ordered the service manual and am going up this weekend to start troubleshooting it.
I would appreciate any and all advice on where to begin my troubleshooting. Anyone have the same thing happen to them?

Sounds like a stripped rear hub ... Would be my guess..

Sorry to be ignorant here, but do these carts have only one wheel in the rear driving?

Yes, because of the open differential. One stripped brake hub can stop the cart from driving. Remove any hubcaps and observe the exposed castle nut on each axle. If the nut spins when you give it gas that hub is stripped out. It's an easy repair.

And, Welcome to BGW!

Got my Service Parts Manual, and as it turns out it's the same parts list posted somewhere in the sticky posts. CRAP! Hope I can send it back. $68 for a parts list is a little steep.
Does anyone know where I can buy the actual technician's service manual for my EZGO 1999 TXT Standard?

You can download all three, Owners, Service, and Parts manuals from the stickies. While you may not find an exact year match, many components are still the same.

You can also do an Advanced Search here, and find other diagrams and manuals that may not be in the stickies. Dana Axle may be one that's readily found by searching, but if memory serves, isn't in the stickies.

I have almost the same issue with my 2001 TXT. Put my cart in reverse and loud clunk. Cart won't go forward or reverse but I can push it. I jacked it up on one sid and took off the wheel that hub spins when I push the gas. Put the wheel back on and did this on the other side and that side spin. Does this mean both hubs are broke?

Even if they both are not broken . You might as well upgrade to Scotty's .

Okay,
Raised the cart on jackstands and neither wheel turns, even when holding either. Now I am thinking it's something electrical. As mentioned previously, the reverse buzzer sounds, there is 37 Volts at the batteries, and the solenoid clicks. Someone at the campground mentioned something about even having the full voltage on the batteries, they may not pass a load test. Anyone have any words of wisdom on that? For what it's worth, each battery has about 6.25 Volts. I'm looking for some more troubleshooting advice. Thanks to everyone for helping so far...
