Default New batteries now charger is not working...

I have a '99 TXT (DCS). I've only owned this cart for a few months and knew when I purchased it that before long it would need new batteries. I bought an analog battery meter from carts unlimited and installed it so I could keep a close eye on how they were holding up. Well, they finally got to the point that 18 holes was all they were good for (according to the instructions that came with the meter).

So, this morning I got new Trojan T105's for it. When the guy at the shop finished putting them in, he checked them with a meter and they showed 37.4v. He said to take the cart home and put it on the charger before using it. After the install, I drove it back up on my trailer and took it home. When I got it home, I plugged it in but the charger never kicked on.... This charger was working just 2 days ago, so I am suspecting the issue is something else. Obviously, the guy at the shop had to disconnect the wiring before he could change out the batteries and I am wondering if there is a wire that didn't get hooked back up or something.

Which brings me to the following questions:

Not including the wires for the analog gauge, can anyone tell me how many wires should be hooked to the positive side of the right (pass. side) front battery?

And the same question for the right rear battery?

Also, is there any other wires which I should be looking at to see if they are disconnected?

Thanks!
Chuck

follow the two wires coming from the charger recepticle under the seat...should be a white wire that goes to your main positive or the battery up front pax side and a black wire that goes to the main negative or rear battery pax side...

Go to the Stickeys and download the appropriate manuals.

I don't have a DCS, but you can also go to Alltrax for a wiring diagram for your drive system.

Camaro hit the nail on the head.. There was another wire that didn't get hooked back up when he was finishing the install. I found it and hooked it up and bingo! The charger started right up. The only thing that surprises me right now is how long it is taking to finish off that last .8 volts... It has been on the charger since about 5pm and is still humming along..

Welcome to BGW

it can take up to 12 hours to fully charge, let it finish, do not stop it before it is done, this is very important that you do the right thing with battery care now that the batteries are new, if you have a volt meter put your meter on the same battery post that you charger wires are hooked to the black and white wires, and get a pack volt reading, the charger will turn off by it's self when the batteries get to a round 46 volts

check out this web site and read every thing with battery in it, it will help you get the most years out of your batteries, check the water often, use only distilled water in the batteries, never run the batteries to 70% charged for the first 20 or 30 charges, then after that never ever run the batteries below 50%, there's a chart for you to look at, OH and before you ever do any work on the electrical system, make sure you flip the tow/run switch on top of the controller to TOW before you unhook any wires, every important i hope you flipped it to TOW before you hooked up that charger wire?

Here is a Word document for the state of charge for 36v batts. I printed it out, laminated it and glued it to the dash in the golf tee area next to my digital volt meter.

I had actually been to that page and read the info there before I bought the batteries (got my battery meter from them too).

Yes, I did flip it to tow/maintenance before I messed with the wires.

That site says to use 9 holes of golf as a guide for how far to run the cart to get to 75%. We played 9 last night and when we got back home, I checked the voltage. It was 37.8v. The chart shows 70% as 37.18v, 80% at 37.49v and 90% at 37.85v. So clearly I didn't get anywhere near 75%. I'm thinking that the next time I go out to play, I may play 9, check the voltage and if it is around that 37.8v mark again, continue to play, checking the voltage every 3 holes or so. As long as I don't let the voltage go below 37.3v, does anyone see a problem with that?
