Default Intermittant problem (cart will not run)

I have been having an ittermittant problem, but it has been more frequent lately. Once per round my solenoid will not activate, then it will around a minute later. In the last few weeks it has happened twice. The only thing that I do is wait for it. I get no faster results by shifting, depressing the pedal, or turning the key. Cart is at full charge when happens and no cables are loose or warm to the touch. The wiring, solenoid and controller were all upgraded in the spring and have been working flawlessly. The only thing I am thinking is the solenoid is getting bad. I tapped the top and it engaged last night, but that might have been just a freak thing. It is the gold top high amp solenoid. Thanks all for the input. At least it starts running again and I do not have to tow it...Yet PS, it is a 1999 series cart that is in question.

I did post the year and stuff after you looked. 1999 series, batteries about 3 years old, all new wiring and fnr cam, the controller is an AXE 4844. The pack voltage is 38.2 after rest every time that I get on it to use it. Thanks.

you said it don't help to turn the key off and on, forward and reverse the F/R, just let it sit for?? and it will run right?,, this problem is hard to find, i would say, carry your volt meter with you, and the next time it does it, test the to small post on the solenoid and see if you have pack volts when you press the go pedal, if you do, then put the neg- lead on the neg- post on your batteries where your neg - on the pack hooks to, battery right next to the controller, and put the pos + lead on each side of the solenoid and see if you have pack volts? your going to have to narrow it down, i don't think it the controller, batteries sound good to,

will do, I personally think bad solenoid. Numbers will tell the truth. I will check this weekend when I use it at a tournament. Hopefully it does not do it again but if it does I will post back results. I have read also that the micro in the peddle box is prone to failure on an older cart. My question would be would it be intermittant like this or just no go at all if it was the micro? Thanks RIB.

I have seen those micro's do some some odd things...could be a prob but as rib says the numbers will tell the whole story...

Sounds like it could be going into thermal shutdown. If the solenoid is getting too hot, the cart will shut down until it cools off. Eventually, this will weaken the solenoid and eventually kill it. It will do it more and more often until it doesn't work at all.

Does it stop suddenly or feel like it gets weaker and weaker until it won't go anymore? Are you at full speed when it happens or easing along?

My 36v Easy Go will do the same thing. It does it worse during the summer and when I'm easing along. Putting larger tires and wheels on the cart makes the problem worse as well.

Mine with ITS does the same when I wash the buggy even if I don't wet the floor board. It also does it randomly sometimes. Sometimes solenoid doesn't click (pedal micro), sometimes it clicks but won't go (ITS). My problem lies in a MOLEX plug that has four wires to the above two items, and it located near the FNR.

Unplugging and replugging this always gets mine going. Gonna cut that pesky plug out and solder it directly the weekend.

It's 14 years old and has been unplugged and replugged in WAY more often that it was designed for, during my upgrades.

I have felt and nothing is getting hot. Thought that maybe I had a loose wire and was getting hot with that, but no. It does not get weaker, just doesn't want to engage the solenoid here and there. It might be on hole 4 some nights and then on 12 the next which doesn't help in diagnosis. I have been through everything on this except for the batteries which will be next spring so all is new. Even new parts will fail though. I will check the micro and take some readings next time it does it and post back. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.
