Default Throttle box question

1996 EZGO txt dcs; this is the throttle box. I am in the process of cleaning it out. It got wet from me cleaning the cart. The push rod works fine. I have cleaned out the black plastic receiver it plunges into. The switch appears to function properly and the wiring appears to be in decent shape. The metal piece on the push-rod shaft that activates the switch is corroded, but appears to do its job. Does this piece carry any current, or does it just do its job by pressing against the switch when the pedal is depressed?
Also, when I am finished cleaning it all up, can i spray with corrosion-block or wd40 , or not? Any advice? I am going to leave the floor board off until I see if everything works, once all of the electronics are in. Thanks for your help.

Default Re: Throttle box question

Two separate circuits here:
Mechanically connected maybe, but not electrically.

1. ITS (The black plastic thingy is the coil and the shiny metal thingy that is pushed into it, is the plunger.)
I'd clean the push on connectors on the black and white wires good, but that's it.
Maybe a squirt of lube is the plunger doesn't slide smoothly in the coil.

2. Pedal microswitch. Part of solenoid activation circuit.
The picture shows the switch with the pedal up.
When the pedal is pushed, the lever on the switch is released.
It seems backwards at first, but the NC contacts are used, so they are open when the lever is pushed.
My guess is that EZGO did it that way so if the switch fails the cart is disabled, rather than being a runaway.

Anyway, if the switch is working like it is supposed to, I wouldn't worry too much about the mechanical cam having some corrosion on it.

The only current flow is in the ITS coil and within the microswitch itself.
Just make sure the push on connectors (all 4) are clean and the mechanical parts move smoothly.
