Ez Go On Fire

96 ez go - My controller caught on fire and most of the wire are melted, including the wire to battery terminals.

I was looking a buying a kit from Buggies Unlimited, anybody have any suggestions on what I should do?

Welcome to BGW

You should explore ALL options before buying anything. If it's all burnt up now would be a good time to upgrade.

Sounds like all you need is cables and a good controller. Alltrax and Logisystems both build controllers.

I actually had a Altrax in the cart and in burnt up.
Could the fact that the stock motor was not upgraded when they installed new controller?
I was thinking that I might should get upgraded motor, controller, wire package, and solonoid.

Any thoughts

Also the battery terminals which are lead (i think) have melted, can the battery terminals be replaced or do i need to get new batteries?

More than likely a cable shorted out somewhere and that caused the fire. Alltrax controllers are pretty bullet proof. Even if the controller shorted out internally it should just quit, not catch fire and burn everything. If the battery terminals are melted off then yes, you will need new batteries. They are lead.

Thanks Rusty, here are some photos of my cart. Let me know what you think. Again i was thinking of upgrading and trying to do it myself.

What about those batteries, can someone fix those melted terminals?

The controller in fact caught fire because the cables got hot and caught fire. Looks like a perfect example of whap happens when the connections aren't good......

So what would you do now. Should I replace engine as well as controller?

Tip of the day:

Never use wing nuts on battery cables. Use stainless steel nuts.
