Question Longest last tires??

Hey guys, I also have a question about tires, my tires only last 3 months, I ride it every day for about an hour on black top and rocky roads. Is it normal for tires to go every 3 months with use like that?
If not, Im wondering what brand or style tire would be best, I kinda want somwhat nobby tires but I had them before and they went just as fast.

I'm still runnin' on what appear to be original 18" 1998 stock tires, mainly on blacktop and gravel. Can't speak to "pretty" tires.

Golf cart tires should last years, rather than months.

Knobby tires wear faster than less aggressive tread patterns, because there is less surface area to wear down.

A tire that is highway rated, would probably give you the longest useful life.

I drive mostly on blacktop/concrete/gravel roads with some relatively mild cross-country mixed in, but I also drive on the grass in some local parks, so I have to use Golf Course approved tires. (Electric golf carts with "Turf" tires aren't considered "Motor Vehicles" by local authorities, so the "No Motor Vehicles" signs aren't fully enforced. )

I replaced my tires a few days ago because of dry-rot and slow leaks rather than tread wear. I went with Carlisle Turf Master because they have a slightly more aggressive tread pattern than the original Carlisle Links tires, and I got them from a local tire store for less than I could order them on-line. While both are stamped 18x8.50-8, the mounted diameter of the Turf master is and inch taller than the Links, so I also gained a little speed.

I fully expect them to outlast me and I suspect it'll be several years before I kick the bucket, but you never know.

@Yurtle- Must be nice, I just bought tires for the 3rd time in the past 12 months, 3 months ago and they are balled and need to be changed.

@bokeasmowle- They are 18.5 x 8.5 -8 inches.

@JohnnieB- I have had a few differnt ones, the last set was actually intended for a trailor and rated for highway use and they still went. And the weird thing is, it really has been just the front. Right now my front tires are balled and my rear tires look ok. I bought them as a set together.

What tire pressures are you using? Is this only the front tires or all of them?
Tire pressure is paramount to the life of your tires! The amount of weight will affect their life too. If your carrying a lot of weight, use a little more pressure, but never more than is on the sidewall of the tire!
If it's your fronts wearing first, you'll need to get an alignment done on your front end.

As simple man mentioned, you've got front end alignment issue.

Download the three .pdf files in this post from the stickies at the top of this forum. They are the Owner, Service and Parts manuals for your cart.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html

Wheel alignment starts on Page G-27 of Service manual.

Considering your tires are getting bald in three months, I'd also check for a bent frame and/or the front axle not being perpendicular to frame.

Get that front end geometry corrected, and you'll be getting years of wear out of your tires like the rest of us.

BTW: you have a PDS cart, so was built in 2000 or later.
This site will show you where tyo look for the serial number and if you can find one, the site will tell you when it was made, body style and drive type.

Ok, thank you very much guys. I will have to look into the allignment.
Hopefully it is something that can be done at home. I dont have the funds to have the pros do it.
And yes, it is ONLY the front. The back are fine.
Thank again guys:)

I have to add, you guys really know your stuff because my allignment is very off.
I always noticed it, for one the little clipboard clamp is to the left when driving straight, alwyas has been. Also, if I dont hold the wheel straight its starts veering to one side. For instance the other night when I was pushing it home I had to keep going to the wheel to straighten it path,I was zig zagging all the way home. I was cursing outloud to myself saying,"its hard enough pushing this bleepin thing in a straight line let alone zigzagging from one side of the road to the other". I bought it used off of an old man. I figured it wasnt beat or abused as it may be from a younger guy. I am starting to wonder if they dropped it off the friggin trailor during delivery.haha, thats how bad the allighnment is.
Anyway, atleast I know the cause of these tires. I never put 2 and 2 together. I thought it was these rocky roads.
Thanks gain guys:)
