I'm thinking motor speed sensor also. Check to make sure magnet hasn't separated from the mount. It could also be the sending unit is bad or connection at J5 is intermittent or shorted as cartworld posted.
I've heard a bad cell(s) can also cause this symptom so double check batteries.
The solenoid also may be dropping out intermittently and could cause this.
Have you tried running in diagnostic mode and when fault occurs does it match anything on controller cover? If you get a 1-3 code while in diagnostic mode and under load, that is the speed sensor fault code.

Don't you just love a sparky with gremlins?

Wow. Thanks for all the replies. I just got back from Ixtapa, Mexico and was hoping to have some answers. I will check all the wiring and test the batteries. Is there a specific guide I can look at while checking these things? Or the best way to get to the specific wires? Thanks

Thanks for you descriptive reply. I will check to see if the wires rubbed together. I don't if I fully understand the Jump method you gave me but when Im working on the cart I will see if it makes sense. Is there an easy way to get to the motor?

Hi folks,
I have a 2005 EZ GO Freedom golf cart.

Today the cart just started to stop while driving. )It would make a series of beeps just like it would if it had started to roll away etc...) and then the brake would engage.
If i pressed the accelerator it would go for a little while but then would shut down with the beeps etc.

I ran the diagnostic test as suggested earlier and all I get is a series of four beeps but not followed by any other beeps.
All the terminals are clean and tight.

Any suggestions where to begin.??

Thanks,
fhelfers

Do you have the Freedom chip installed in the controller?

hi fhelfers... The four beeps you are hearing are most likely the cart telling you which chip is installed in your controller. Four beeps indicates the freedom chip. It also indicates that your cart is now in the diagnostic mode. To complete the diagnostics, switch your cart on after you hear the four beeps. place the F&R in forward and depress the accelerator and start to drive. When your cart stops you should hear another set of beeps indicating the problem. Let me know if I can help.

I had a customer bring me a 2004 PDS that had the same problem. It turns out the solenoid worked perfectly when testing it, but was failing when driving it. I replaced the solenoid and everything works great! -Todd
