Default Radio and Accessories: Seperate battery or cart batteries?

Fixing up my EZGO Shuttle 6 and I'm debating on what accessories to add.

Thinking about a radio etc. Currently the cart has headlights and taillights that run off 2 of the 6 batteries. In adding the radio I'm thinking the current setup is not a good idea, so I'm toying with either installing a voltage reducer or simply running a separate 12v battery.

What is everyone else doing? And, if running a separate 12 volt, what kind of battery are you using?

Thanks

seperate 12v deep cycle battery / 10 gauge wire running to fuse block and accessories run from there. Also, seperate 10 gauge wire running to power port that I can use and also plug in a trickle charger

Nice. So the power port pulls double duty? Charging and aux power?

12volt 35 AH glass mat battery from Batteries Plus. No maintenance and weighs about 20lbs. Powers all 12v systems including lights, MP3 amp and speakers, power port. I charge about once a month with $30 battery maintainer from wallyworld. Could also charge from power port.

My setup is much like that of Kernal. Except I have no power port and I used an AGM motorcycle battery. I put it on the trickle charger/maintainer anytime I plug the main pack charger into the cart.

yes...I mounted it where an FnR switch would go if it were behind your legs..hole already there..got one that has a green glow light on it when you open it up..after running headlights, etc, I plug in trickle charger and charge it back up overnight...

I have a pic posted on here of it..but now it wont let me post it again.

You'll have to link the pic. Forum software will not permit the same file name to be uploaded twice. I post to Photobucket.com and hotlink from there any time I wish to display a pic on a discussion forum.

I used to have my loads evenly distributed across my 3, 12 volt circuits.

First three photos.

Now that I've got new batteries, and more of them, I went with a 48v to 12 volt converter. Got it from ScottyB and it powers my headlights, tail lights, dome light, wig-wag, siren, stereo, horn, ammeter, and power port.

That's odd, I've posted the same files dozens of times, perhaps over a hundred times for some of them.

I suspect what is preventing dawgn86 from posting a picture is that it exceeds the height, width or overall file size limits.
Scroll down on the Attachment management window to find the max limits for the permitted file types.
