another brake question
I think my cart is around an 82 ezgo with a western body. When I was working on the brakes today I could not find a "star wheel" for adjustment. Only adjustment I found was in front of forward bracket. Basically a threaded rod with a threaded cylinder that took up slack. Is this correct?

Re: another brake question
I can't say for sure since I've never worked on one before. Did you take the hub off and see if it's there? If it's been awhile since they were serviced then you may not have seen it through the hole in the hub. Do you have any pictures of it?
I would think there should be some kind of adjustment though other than the rod and cables. |

Re: another brake question
In this pic the adjuster is at the bottom of the backing plate, and the star wheel is on the left:

Re: another brake question
Mine does not have a star whel at all,, It is raining today but asap I will take it back apart and get pics. With the drum off, when I push brake pedal the rear shoe moves a lttle and the front does not move at all. That could be due to drum being off. When I put park brake on the passenger side locks down, but the drivers side still spins. I know where the star wheel is on all these pics (the one above too) mine does not look anything like the pics thanks

Re: another brake question
Mine is like Ragin's. No star wheel etc. Gorno's looks more like an automotive brake that I have worked on before. I'll try to get some pics when I get to cart in a couple of weeks.

Re: another brake question
Do you have the rubber boot on the back side of the backing plate?
This is it under the boot. Undo the cables from the backing plate and adjust it till the hub rubs while putting it on. Then back off a turn or so so it slips on. Then adjust the cables so they hook back up to the backing plate without to much movement. |

Re: another brake question
No problem make sure you do as stated and relax the cables first then do the adjusting.
