Steps to removing battery tray?
What's the saying about best laid plans? Wanted to give the battery tray some TLC this weekend:
.....well, you know how it goes....one thing lead to another, and here's where I ended up: I'm into it now! It was just so dirty I couldn't stand it...so I'll take her down to the bare frame and clean her up right. May have to rid myself of the purple too..... And so it begins! |

Re: Steps to removing battery tray?
Haha - i was looking for a good title! 94.5 from what Ive gathered? It's actually in (seemingly) very good shape...so this appears, for now, to be more a refresh than a rebuild. Then again....this was supposed to just be a battery tray project!

It looks like the accelerator pedal may still have something in need of disassembly.

Re: Steps to removing battery tray?
Well, looks like this is now my build thread. Here's today's progress:
Here's the frame underside after some paint and an application of some undercoating Topside painted Oh.....and the battery tray that started this all.... Is now encased in some POR 15....and after it dries I'm gonna hit it with a truck bed coating. Now to convince the boss that I just neeeeeed some suspension parts to continue this "paint project"...... |

Re: Steps to removing battery tray?
The big brown truck showed up today...
I was able to convince the boss that new suspension bits were indeed needed. One front spring was sagging for sure (this I knew from a noticeable lean:) What I hadn't noticed was this: A busted leaf in the rear. Regardless, I'm in a position to start putting things back together. So I started cleaning the rear end....it was dirty! If I haven't pulled 30lbs of dirt off this whole buggy so far I'd be shocked. I do have a couple questions now. 1. Rear end oil. If I've read correctly, I want to put 30 weight oil in it (10oz). Is this accurate for my application? 2. Bushings for the rear suspension. Do you guys recommend putting any lube on those? |

Re: Steps to removing battery tray?
I would put some anti seeze on the bolts before you slide them in the sleeves that go inside the bushings. Thats my input!
