Default 2010 EZGO PDS - No Reverse

I noticed when I bought it that a couple times I put it in reverse and it didn't immediately kick in. I had to put it in forward, goose that peddle, then move back in reverse then it would go.
It's set in the garage for about 3 days now, on the charger. Went out for a ride and couldn't back out of the garage. Tried the forward, goose, reverse trick and nothing.
It does start the reverse buzzer, but no go. I pushed it back enough to let it roll back a few yards then took off down the road. Tried to stop, then reverse a few times but out of 20 times it only engaged once.
I can hear the click from passengers side under seat when put in forward and press peddle, but in reverse, no click....

I'm guessing it's solenoid....

Someone help out here please! I was hoping to have this for the weekend. Family coming into town and wanted to show them around the hood in style...

Well, shooting from the hip without hard diagnostic info, I think it may be the rocker switch, try swapping the top and bottom wires on the switch and see if the problem remains in reverse (possible controller problem) or changes to forward failure = replace the rocker switch.

Well great! Just went out to the garage, pulled the switch, reversed the f&r connections.... Both f&r worked flawlessly.... Connected back to normal.... Both f&r worked flawlessly...
Looks to be an intermittent issue. Hopefully it only effect the reverse and not the forward and I don't get stuck out down the road!

Reverse is gone again...

I pulled the f/r switch out and checked the connections, but nothing this time. Had to push it out of the garage last night.
Drove half way around around the block and we stopped.... pressed the peddle to go and click... no go in FORWARD!!
I had two kids, myself and another adult. We pushed it forward a couple feet and and hit the peddle and away we went. Strange...
We drove it for at least another hour all through the neighborhood through the stop and go traffic with up to 5 adults and no problem going forward.
I haven't check reverse again yet to see if that issues remains.

I'm going to check the f/r switch again tonight and hopefully its the problem and nothing more severe. I'd hate to have to park it waiting in funds for a controller...

Who sells the f/r switch and key switch with lights?

If I have to change out the solenoid, would it be best to go with the OEM or HD solenoid? And who has best deals?

My wife wants me to put a windshield on it. Where can I get one?

Try tightening the nylock nut that holds the FNR cam. It could be too loose.

Yurtle's morning coffee probably hadn't kicked in yet, he's giving advice on a Series drive cart and you've got a PDS drive cart.

To reverse the way the motor spins, the direction of current flow through one of the windings is reversed.
In a series drive cart, a mechanical switch with high current contacts is used and in a PDFS cart the switching is done by the controller.

The F/R rocker switch on the dash, simply tells the controller what to do.

If your cart isn't changing the direction it travels, either the rocker switch on the dash (or the wiring that connects it to the controller) is bad, or the controller is bad.

I would check the rocker switch first. Take the three wires loose. Touch the bottom wire to the center wire or pinch them together with a clothes pin and see if you get reverse. Do the top wire and the center the same and see if you get forward. If that works get a new switch.

I don't know if this is the best price but I had this link saved.

Rocker Switch - http://wwwdiygolfcartcom/EZGO-Forwar...PDS-p/9640.htm

Key Switch with lights - http://wwwdiygolfcartcom/EZGO-Key-Sw...t-p/key-51.htm

The key switch shown is with the fleet key. You can get one with a unique key that the fleet keys won't fit but it is about twice the price. I got the unique key switch because I keep my cart parked in a storage area with 40 other carts and there have been instances of kids driving others carts using the fleet key. The lights on the switch is also a good idea because you can't accidentally leave your lights on if you remove the key.
