93 ez-go golf cart up hills
Hi all,
I've been I here a lot lately trying to fix up my old 93 ez-go and recently came up with an issue I didn't see anywhere on here. My cart is very loud(and its electric) it almost sounds like a grinding coming from the back end. I've added oil and everything with no luck. Also I not sure if this is related but it has very little(if any) power going up inclines. I know the batteries are great as I can drive all day on flat surfaces. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

If the axel was busted wouldn't that mean it won't work on flat surface though? It works fine on flat and downhill

The brakes stop on a dime and I just replaced the wheels.. It sounds more like its coming from the motor.

The motor itself could have a bad bearing,or even an internal problem with the Armature or Field-Coils.A noisy electric-motor is a good sign of one that is on its' way out,Especially if you notice power loss.Hope this helps.

Thank you! That actually does help. If this is the case is the motor salvageable? If so what would need to be done to fix it. Or do I just need a new motor?

Re: 93 ez-go golf cart up hills
It all depends on whats' wrong with the motor. If its' a bad bearing, easy fix at a electric-motor shop.Take it to someone and get an estimate, then go from there.Sometimes you are farther ahead to replace/upgrade than repair.

Re: 93 ez-go golf cart up hills
I'm not sure on your grinding issue but the stock controller and motor setup on a Marathon just doesn't have much power going uphill. Make sure all your battery cables are clean and you might want to consider replacing them all with 4ga if they are the stock cables.
