ezgo read end troubles!! need advice
2005 ezgo pds. Whining sound coming from motor/rear end. gets louder as speed increases. im thinking bearings or brushes any ideas? if brushes are they easy to change?
Also, when riding could hear a knocking noise coming from passenger side hub. Does it once driven for awhile. i could put my hand on the hub and feel the knocking im guessing bearings. which leads to next issue.... was able to remove passenger side hub and axle no problem. Driver side hub is seized on and wont come off. have heated with a torch and tried a slid hammer to force the hub off and it wont budge. figure if im going to replace bearings on passenger side, might as well replace drive side as well. any thoughts from the pros? Pretty sure the rear end fluid is low or needs to be replaced. not sure where the fill whole is. noticed a rubber insert on the housing could this be it? if so how do you go about removing it? |

Re: ezgo read end troubles!! need advice
I had to hammer the drums off my 98. Seems once the brakes are properly adjusted, they are too sung to remove the drum. Age and use do not complement this situation.
I already had the rear body off so it was faily easy. Use a heavy punch or other drive bar and vary your strikes around the drum. |

MsJeep4X4,
I can say from experience, that replacing anything that looks worn or rusty now or piece by piece will save you alot more of this hard labor later. Sounds like your going to have your hands full with this one..good luck! It definitely sounds something in the rearend, gears, splines or something is worn out though..? |

Re: ezgo read end troubles!! need advice
The ridge is formed by the brake shoes wearing the drum. The edge of the drum isn't worn, so the shoes can get stuck on this ridge.
