Battery fire and no power control
Hello all...Im a long time reader but first time poster on bgw and have always found more than what i needed just lurking in yall's shadows haha
until now.. Heres the basic rundown of whats going on and what happened... 1997 txt 36v new batteries last fall My controller popped on me last week so i ordered what i deducted as a factory replacement...same look same model number and all...I installed the controller last night and took it for a test spin..everytime you hit the accelerator it barks tires and snaps your neckthere was no easing into it at all...it was popping wheelies or nothing...so i get around the front of the house on the "Test Run" and smell a hot battery smell..turn around and notice sparks and a small fire coming from my battery terminal on one of the ones in the middle of the pack....I now know not what to do...is it the controller? was it a bad battery? im baffled |

Re: Battery fire and no power control
Sounds like a combination of errors. First the throttle table in the controller did not match the cart. second you likely had a poor connection at that battery post that produced that much heat.
Your cart requires an ITS throttle input. |

Re: Battery fire and no power control
You need to correct the sparking issue before driving it again. Batteries give off hydrogen gas, which turns into water if it ignites, explosively.
