Default help

I have a EZGO fromthe 90's and having problems with the reastat? The coil under the drivers seat is getting extremely hot. I just replaced the batteries and don't want to burn it up. Is there a adjustment or how are they set up. Thanx for any info Duckman1

If in fact you have a resistor style cart the coils are supposed to get hot. The coils are how it regulates speed. The only time the coils are out of the circuit is at full throttle.

When the throttle pedal is pushed the entire pack voltage is sent through the coils. If your going slow the extra power is burnt off as heat by the coils.....go a little faster and the coils won't get as hot.....go full throttle and the coils are completely out of the circuit. It doesn't matter if your going fast or slow, the same amount of power is being used.

They WILL get hot but they should not get hot enough to melt your batteries....unless something is majorly wrong with the system or the coils have been moved from their factory posistion.....
