EMP Motors

Looking for some input on anyone that has installed an EMP Motor.

1) Do you like it?
2) Pros & Cons if any?
3) what gains did you get with it (ie; speed and torque)?
4) Are you running it with stock controller?
5) Would you recommend it?
6) How do you like the 2 speed?

Any input would be appreciated

I love mine but first you need to know the backstory.

It's on a 77' melex which aftermarket motor DO NOT exist for it. Only thing available was the stocker at around $500+. I called EMP and explained what I wanted and they built it. I think it was the first melex performance motor they had ever built. EMP built me a 2 speed and picked up the switch too but didn't use it. I leave it in speed mode just because I fealt like it still had plenty-o-torque. Then I went 48 volt and kneww I didn't need the torque mode. I have installed a few more on freinds carts and they all love them.

As far as a reccomendation I guess it would depend on your situation, money, etc. They build those motors to work with your stock controller so you have to have realistic expectations but for the money its the best bang for the buck. If I wanted some really extreme power, speed and torque I would buy a NEW High torque/HP motor and high power controller. Everyone wants cheap speed/power but it simply doesn't happen.

Thanks Roady,
Since they build these motors to work with your current controllers , can you upgrade to a bigger controller at a later date without hurting the motor?

4 maybe 5 MPH and more torque. It mainly depends on what you tell them you want.

I think total was around $300 or so. That includes shipping motor there and back.
