Wiring Question on lights
I just recently bought a 2002 txt and I just started working on it bu installing an auxillary battery. I had planned on miving the previously installed cigarrete lighter plug and the halogen lights over to it. After looking I realized that they are hooked up to run at 36V. I took my multimeter out and sure enough it read 38.5. I measured at the cig lighter and it read the same. So I know that needs changed for sure but my question is are there lights out there made to run off 36V? I doubt it but I just wanted to check. They are made by Maxlite. No wonder they are so bright lol.

Re: Wiring Question on lights
I put in a 12v marine battery, wired it to a fuseblock and run my lights from it. I also run a power port directly to the battery for cell phone, etc and I can also plug in a trickle charger into the port to charge it.

Re: Wiring Question on lights
Thats a great idea think I'm going to steal it! Do you run your lights off the 12v battery also and if you did how long does it last?

Re: Wiring Question on lights
The lights are ran through the fuse block, not directly to the battery.
They will last a pretty good while..I may run them 30 minutes one evening and not use them for a week...I havent trickled charged them in 3-4 weeks, turned them on last night and they were pretty bright. |

Yes.
There are lights that run 36 volts I use LEDs made by "speaker" they are rated 12-48 volts. (Northern tool also caries some I think?) Buy using 36-48 volts there is lower amp draw so usually a relay isn't required. Also you do not have to use as heavy ga. Wire as 12v halogens require. |

Re: Wiring Question on lights
I guess I am going to leave the lights hooked up to the cart batteries at 36V. It looks like it is using 16 Gauge cable. I will be moving the 12v power plug over to my auxillary battery.
Thanks Foot Hill, Anthony |
