99 TXT shocks
Does anyone know an aftermarket or good replacement shock for front and rear of a 99 TXT? It has a 6" drop axle lift but is made to accomodate factory shock size.

Re: 99 TXT shocks
I use the standard aftermarket heavy duty coilover front or rear lifted or not.The shocks are listed as heavy duty fronts but they fit rear also.We use them for that extra help on a rear seat cart because the HD leaf springs kill the ride so badly.Check them out..Dave

Re: 99 TXT shocks
Stock shocks are 14 inches closed and 18.5 open. That might help a little.

Re: 99 TXT shocks
Beware of using automotive style shocks. Golf cart shocks are actually dampeners. Auto style shocks always want to fully extend vs. a cart shock that will stay at whatever length you push/pull them to.
I am basing this of of what I know of my 93 Marathon. Maybe things changed over the years? I seam to remember reading that this is still the norm. What harm would be done by using an auto style shock? Not much really, just that there will be constant outwards pressure on the shock mounts all the time. Lots of people use auto style. I just wanted to share the info if it helps. |

Re: 99 TXT shocks
I think the biggest danger in using auto shocks, (which results in the push Gonkulor is referring to), is that they are calibrated for much heavier vehicles. Using them for the rear, if you carry weight on the back a lot, would probably be ok. I would think the front would remain at some point of partial extend most of the time.
